  • Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) in June 2015, aiming to provide affordable housing to all eligible urban dwellers by 2022.As the first phase successfully moved toward its goals, the government introduced an upgraded version, known as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0) in October 2021 under the “Housing for All” mission.
  • PMAY-U 2.0 is a continuation and enhancement of the original PMAY-U scheme. It aims to address the urban housing shortage among
    Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Low-Income Groups (LIG), and Middle-Income Groups (MIG).
    The government plans to ensure that every family has a pucca house with basic amenities like water supply, sanitation, and electricity.
  • PMAY-U 2.0 focuses on completing pending projects, promoting sustainable construction practices, utilizing green technologies,
    and ensuring inclusivity by covering marginalized sections of society such as slum dwellers, women, and persons with disabilities.

  • Inclusive Approach: Priority to women, scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, minorities, and differently-abled individuals.
  • Transparency: Online monitoring through the CLSS Awas Portal (CLAP) and direct benefit transfer (DBT) to beneficiaries.
  • In-Situ Slum Redevelopment (ISSR):
  • Uses land as a resource to redevelop slums with the help of private developers and provides houses to eligible slum dwellers.
  • Credit-Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS):
  • Provides interest subsidy on housing loans to EWS, LIG, MIG-I, and MIG-II categories.
  • Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP):
  • Encourages private and public sector collaboration for building affordable houses for the urban poor.
  • Beneficiary-Led Individual House Construction (BLC):
  • Financial assistance for individuals to construct or enhance their houses independently.
  • The applicant must be an Indian citizen.
  • The applicant or their family must not own a pucca house anywhere in India.
  • The beneficiary family must consist of husband, wife, and unmarried children.
  • Income criteria:
  • EWS: Annual income up to ₹3 lakh.
  • LIG: Annual income between ₹3 lakh and ₹6 lakh.
  • MIG-I: Annual income between ₹6 lakh and ₹12 lakh.
  • MIG-II: Annual income between ₹12 lakh and ₹18 lakh.

  • Select the “Search Beneficiary” Option:
  • On the homepage, hover over the “Search Beneficiary” tab and click on “Search by Name”.
  • Enter Your Aadhaar Number:
  • Enter the first 3 characters of your Aadhaar number and click on “Show”.
  • View Your Details:
  • If your name is listed, it will appear on the screen along with your application details such as beneficiary name, father’s name, city, and application status.
  • Aadhaar Card

  • Affidavit confirming that no pucca house is owned
